TOWARDS THE CREATION OF A NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ETHNIC MINORITY JOURNALISTS

ITALY AND EUROPE. Exchanging experiences

European seminar
Venue: Associazione Stampa Subalpina - Palazzo Ceriana Mayneri, corso Stati Uniti 27 – Turin (Italy)
19 February 2010

Obtaining visibility, professional recognition, equal opportunities when accessing journalism and the media. These are some of the leverages which motivated ethnic minority journalists in various European countries to get together and create associations, working groups and bodies committed to promote a more diverse, plural and multicultural media sector.
In Italy, a participative process developed in the last five years which will result in the creation of ANSI, a national association of ethnic minority journalists to be established within the Italian National Union of Journalists.
Besides the official launch of ANSI, the Turin seminar also aims at initiating an exchange between the newborn Italian association and some of the most interesting experiences developed in this sector at the European level which were identified in collaboration with the International Federation of Journalists and the secretariat of the European network On Line/More Colour in the Media.
An exchange on practices, strategies and working tools.
